Sex linked to happiness in older adults

Although at first glance look like something that should not surprise anyone - Are you saying that sex makes people happy? - There are those who believe that sexuality ceases to be of interest to older adults (despite all evidence to the contrary) .

These studies confirm the importance of sexuality for over 65 years, said lead researcher Adrienne Jackson, who hopes the study "open lines of communication and arouse interest in new approaches to deal with problems that can be solved and that limit or impede the participation of older adults in sexual activities. "

Jackson's research, based on the General Social Survey (General Social Survey), 2004, compared to U.S. adults, found that the number of married people older than 65 who were described as "very happy" was 60% higher among those who had sex more than once a month. Only 40% of those who had not enjoyed sex in the last 12 months were rated as "very happy." The results were the same even after the alignment, taking into account factors that affect happiness, such as age, gender, health and finance, said the researchers.

As for marital bliss, 80% of those who had frequent intercourse said to be happy in their marriage, compared with 59% of those who had not had sex in the year before the survey. The study was "correlational", however, it was not clear whether sex makes happier older couples or older couples happier tend to have more sex
