General Insurance Association of Indonesia (AAUI) call upon the public to immediately file an insurance claim valuables damaged by floods.
Chairman AAUI, Kornelius Simanjuntak, said that insurance companies are ready to serve the insurance claims for people in Jakarta and surrounding areas affected by floods.
"We advise the public to contact the insurance company and report the claim automobile, motorcycle, home, shop, warehouse and identity by submitting insurance policy number," he explained while talking , Jakarta, Sunday (20/01/2013).
For cars or motorcycles, Cornelius gives tips to people not start the engine after the vehicle submerged. "I turned on the engine or the starter, then the damage will be more severe engine system," he explained.
He suggested, in order to allow the engine and the motor is off, such as flooding. "Leave it alone, then from their own insurance company that will tow the car or motorcycle to the workshop suggested that could be taken to improve the vehicles," he concluded.
As for insurance claims home, shop, barn and everything in it, the insurance company must look first admitted insurance policies from the cardholder. Insurers must detail the policyholder does help ensure flood losses or not.
"Home furnishings, such as furniture, televisions, and so have a different insurance policy. Not everything can be covered, so the policy must be seen first to flood or not," said Cornelius.
Surely, he argued, when people reported insurance claims, the company concerned will give complaints or guidelines that must be taken by the public
