The actress, who famously engaged in a number of odd behaviors over the past few months, was the subject of a very unflattering article in In Touch magazine this week.
According to In Touch, Bynes, 26, stalked around a tanning salon in New York City recently, naked except for a pair of goggles, oblivious to gaping onlookers.
“(She) didn’t seem to care that everyone saw her naked,” an eyewitness told the magazine, adding that Bynes looked “painfully thin” and “seemed totally out of it.”
An employee at the salon argued that Bynes was a frequent customer and was always “polite” to the staff there.
Outraged at the allegations, Bynes told Us Weekly that she plans to sue In Touch for making up lies about her.
“I’m suing In Touch for printing a fake story,” she told the magazine. “I’m not ‘troubled.’ I don’t get naked in public.
“I’m 26, a multi-millionaire, retired. Please respect my privacy.”
In September, Bynes came under scrutiny after allegedly locking herself in the dressing room of the popular West Hollywood boutique Kin and refusing to come out for an hour and 45 minutes.
Prior to that, the former child star had reportedly disrupted a spin class by taking off her shirt, switching bikes, and applying makeup by the mirror in the middle of class.
She was summarily kicked out.
Bynes’ publicity team — including her agent, publicist and lawyer — have all since dropped her as a client.
Bynes also currently faces multiple charges stemming from multiple driving incidents, including a DUI, two hit-and-runs and two separate charges of driving with a suspended license.

Bynes tells Us Weekly that she's suing In Touch Weekly for a story that claimed the actress, 26, surprised customers as she was seen walking around a New York City tanning salon recently wearing nothing. She seemed to have forgotten to put on a robe as she searched for a pair of goggles.
"I'm suing In Touch for printing a fake story," Byrnes told Us on Thursday. "I'm not 'troubled.' I don't get naked in public."
She threw in some other pertinent details, saying, "I'm 26, a multi-millionaire, retired. Please respect my privacy."
In a statement to USA TODAY, In Touch spokesperson Lindsay Ferraro says, "We stand by our reporting."
Meanwhile, as Us points out, Bynes may not be troubled, but she is in trouble, legally. She is currently facing a DUI, two hit-and-run charges, as well as two separate charges for driving with a suspended license.

Amanda Bynes has reportedly threatened to sue a tabloid magazine over a story that claims she wandered around a New York tanning salon completely naked in search of goggles to wear.
The recent InTouch Weekly story cited an unnamed eyewitness who said the former Nickelodeon star seemed "totally out of it" as she reportedly walked around the main lobby before returning to a private spray-tan room.
"I'm not 'troubled,'" Bynes told Us Weekly on Thursday as she declared her intent to sue InTouch. "I don't get naked in public. I'm 26, a multi-millionaire, retired. Please respect my privacy."
She said the story was completely false.
Contradicting the InTouch account, a store employee told Us that Bynes, a frequent tanning customer, was "always polite" and usually just popped in and out.
Bynes' life has been under a bit of a microscope lately as she faces a DUI allegation, two hit-and-run charges and a couple of counts of driving with a suspended license.
But it's comforting to know that, despite all that, she's a still a multimillionaire.
