Project Smart Phone Ad-Hoc Network (SPAN) to reconfigure your Wi-Fi chip that attaches to the phone to function as a Wi-Fi router. The phone is connected to the nearest mobile phone that has the same configuration that led to one bond of Ad-Hoc networks, mobile phones can communicate with each other without using a carrier network operations (BTSs). SPAN take over all communications in the Global Handset Proxy, so applications like VoIP, Twitter, email and so can work normally.
Sources from the Linux wireless extensions API merged into Android kernel source and then compiled. Modified version of Andoid used to find the model-specific Android phone revealed and harness routing features Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi chip is incorporated in mobile phones to take over the communications network usually.
It is a framework for further research to find out how to build a special case of ad-hoc network ties. SPAN routing module is designed to be easily installed and used again so it can easily be changed. Researchers and developers interested in experimenting with new routing protocols that may take months to build the entire application using the framework SPAN.
The current version can be transferred between the routing protocols were adopted on a large scale and Dijkstra OSLRd to examine the differences in performance of the detection networks and routing. In testing SPAN, boundary routing protocols have been found. Detection networks provide a network with a packet of information "hello" so that the routing protocol found. This like-type detection works well in static networks because the number is used for the detection bandwidth constrained mobile networks that do not change.
However, in an ad-hoc network ties are made by phone, movement and change is a factor that often create problems in maintaining the greater routing information but it inspired a new method called Better-Approach-To-Mobile-Adhoc-Network ( BATMAN). This will decentralize network detection and limit the connection point of gathering all the routing information on all the mobile phone networks. The purpose of this project is to make Batman a more dynamic method of collecting the current routing information. Above the BATMAN routing protocol, there are some studies to use machine intelligence to add routing that can be predicted with information from the Android accelerometer, gravity sensor, gyroscopes and sensors to predict where the rotation vector are next connection point in the network the mobile phone.
The first test was very successful. Each phone in the network can work at a distance of 30 meters from the nearest phone. VoIP works up to five hops, the first test with a 30 point connections does not reach the limit of the number of channels supported by 802.11, but the developers are hoping to find one when the number of points greater connection made. Additionally resolve the issue with the new routing protocol. Bridging networks that have been made to other networks using a tablet which is used to connect internet with Wi-Fi USB adapter, so external internet and VoIP networks can be achieved anyone connected with the bond ad-hoc networks.
SPAN has announced on Github as a source of concern. It is used to promote the further development and as an application that will be used on the Android Market. Announcements from Github has attracted many researchers to experiment and contribute to the development of this project. There have been approximately 500 experiments for the development of this project on GitHub has done a wide range of developers.
SPAN is a continuing work that will affect how mobile devices work in the future. It is also an interesting area of study in the development of Android, the open innovation that led to the discovery of new technologies. In theory, a good routing protocol and a number of the many connection points, communication tower will not be required to operate a mobile phone network.
